| Our Values:
We are a Non-Denominational group founded on Christian Principles with people from at least 10 Christian Denominations.
Our aim is to
carry out God's Command to help our fellow brothers and sisters everywhere in the world to help themselves meet their basic necessities of clean water, education and health, regardless of creed, color or politics.
Our Timeline:
Wells of Hope is a group of people with its roots in the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario Canada. In 2004, its founder, Ted Vander Zalm and his wife Miriam were led to provide fresh water to the people in Guatemala. Our group was formed in the fall of 2004, with the help of Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary and Rotary International. We have a board of Directors of 15 People. We operate under the Umbrella of the Niagara Warehouse of Hope
We were incorporated on December 15 2006 as Wells of Hope International Developments Inc. We have our own offices and Board Room in Beamsville Ontario. (Which are donated) In the fall of 2006 we bought 10 Acres of land to build our own Camp. (Again Funds were donated)
The Camp is called “Campo Esperanza”—“Camp of Hope”
During November 2006 to June 2007 we have built a main building with a kitchen, meeting hall, 5 Bedrooms and 1 Office. We also built a Guard House for our local Supervisor. (Special Funds were donated) Now we will operate year-round.
Our Work:
Water Program: We continue to provide fresh water through drilling of wells.
Education Program: Due to the extreme need for Education we have built 6 new schools and upgraded and expanded one school.
Health Program: We have sent 3 teams of 2 doctors each for Medical help.
Backpack Program: We have sent 5,200 backpacks to the communities. The Niagara Warehouse of Hope loaded these Backpacks in containers. They paid the shipping cost to Guatemala.
Orphanage Program: Many donations are received for this specific program.
Our Plans for 2007---2008:
Water Program: Continue drilling for fresh water in Guatemala.
Education Program: Continue the school programs with Educational Material and infrastructure expansion (renovations, expansions)
Health Program: Expand our hygiene program, with Volunteer Doctors.
Orphanage Program: Continue helping the Orphanage with funds
Backpack program: Again in the fall collect Backpacks.
Relief Program: Continue to send relief Materials through the Niagara Warehouse of Hope. They decide which country the relief materials will receive.
Volunteers, who pay their own way, do all our work. They stay in the field from 10 days to 3 Months.
Donations are tax deductable. Will you join our Team?
