Community Support

Inspired by the presence of the Wells of Hope Group, the forty-five communities that reside in the mountains of Santa Maria, Jalapa, came together to form an association that would unify them and give them a stronger voice in making their needs known to the world.

The Guatemalan Government now recognizes this Association as a legitimate representation of the mountain communities of Santa Maria, Jalapa.

Each one of the communities belonging to the Association sends two representatives to attend the weekly meetings.  During these meetings, the needs of the communities are articulated.  Everyone is invited to contribute their ideas, suggestions and observations, and a solution is formulated.

Community Leaders Come to Say Thank You

Wells of Hope has been privileged to be a part of the weekly meetings. By participating in these weekly meetings, Wells of Hope is made aware of what is important to each individual community.  This allows the Wells of Hope to be successful in providing meaningful, useful, and necessary aid projects for the simple reason that the projects are suggested and chosen by the representatives of the communities we serve.

After Bridge Durazno.jpg The Association of communities has been an excellent tool for coordinating such things as the medical visits of volunteer doctors and dentists, building bridges and homes, as well as the distribution of the numerous containers of relief goods contributed by our donors, that are shipped to Guatemala via the Niagara Warehouse of Hope (www.warehouseofhope.com). Wells of Hope is committed to continuing to work in partnership with the communities that we serve.
