Media Release: Wells of Hope Celebrates Completion of Guatemalan Well with The Power of Water Fireworks Cruise.

June 24-Wells of Hope will celebrate the completion of the Sanyuyo Well Project in Guatemala with The Power of Water reception and fireworks cruise on Friday, June 26. The event will be hosted by Giant FM morning host Brian Salmon, and sponsored by the Vaughan family who were the major contributors to the project. The evening will include a reception, musical entertainment, Hor d’ oeuvres, cash bar, and will be capped off with an evening cruise under the Falls on the Hornblower with a viewing of the evening fireworks.
Wells of Hope board chair Scott Maxwell notes, “ We’re grateful to be part of this event. We know that thousands of people will now have access to safe drinking water thanks to the Vaughan family who sponsored the Well, as well as Rotary Niagara on the Lake, and the Sircorp restaurant group who funded the generator. That’s something worth celebrating!” Proceeds from the event will support ongoing Wells of Hope projects in Guatemala. Tickets for the event are sold out.
Wells of Hope is a Niagara based charity working in the mountain region of Jalapa, Guatemala. In eleven years the organization has drilled twelve wells serving over 50 000 people, built seventeen schools and thirty houses, distributed over 15 000 backpacks, and served thousands more Guatemalans through medical and dental missions. Wells of Hope was founded by Ted and Miriam van der Zalm, who came to Guatemala, witnessed the grave need of the people and committed themselves to making an impact.
