Packs of Hope
The community is more comfortable and confident sending their kids to school. There is a better quality of education, and kids realize that education will give them a better life.
School Principle
Wells of hope has successfully drilled deep water wells, against incredible odds, to bring clean and potable water to the front door of tens of thousands who thirst in the mountain regions of Jalapa and Jutiapa.
Learn More
It is important for the youth in our North American culture to be aware of the less fortunate in other parts of the world, and more importantly, be shown that it is possible to make a radical impact on poverty. One of the many successful initiatives of Wells of Hope is the Packs of Hope program.
The students in elementary and high schools in Southern Ontario are asked at the beginning of the school year to search their home for a “gently” used backpack. The students are then asked to fill the backpack with items such as school supplies (notebooks, pens, pencil crayons, erasers, markers), hygiene products (toothbrushes, hair brushes, toilet paper), clothing, and possibly a toy or ball.
When the backpacks are collected from each participating school, the students are invited to participate in the preparation for shipping the backpacks to Guatemala at the Niagara Warehouse of Hope.
The backpacks are then shipped to Guatemala and distributed by Canadian High School students participating in a mission trip.
